Spring Scarf

This week a friend of mine and I took our kiddos to Seattle for a little day trip. Foremost on our agenda was visiting Fabric Crush, an adorable fabric store in the Magnolia neighborhood. They had some really beautiful fabric and lucky for me carried one of my favorite fabric designers: Anna Maria Horner. So of course I had to pick some up. I found this beautiful print that I made into a nice lightweight spring scarf. The best part about this little project is it took about 20 minutes start to finish!

Baby Pants - Take 2

For the second pair of knit baby pants I decided to try a different pattern. I used the Wooly Wonders Wonderpants pattern and I really liked the way they turned out. At first the pattern seems really overwhelming and complicated but a quick visit to my favorite yarn shop fixed all of that. The cool thing about these pants is that I learned a new technique. It's called the magic loop method and you knit both legs at the same time. I will definitely be making these pants again, perhaps in a bigger size. Here they are:

Celebrate the Boy

One of my favorite blogs to follow is "celebrating the boy" for the month of February. She has been hosting various crafty bloggers showing off their boyish stuff. I found a tutorial for these super cute knee pad pants and had to make Wyatt a pair. So I dug through my stash and found some cure blue corduroy and some green knit fabric for the knee pads and to work I went. He wore them all day today and looked oh so cute. He even posed for a few pictures. I've been inspired by all the tutorials people have been sharing for Celebrate the Boy month, so hopefully you'll see a few more things for the special boy in my life.

Spring Fever Sewing

I'm ready to get rid of all the drab winter stuff around my house. So not only have I been purging, organizing and cleaning like a maniac (can you say nesting??) but I also made time to sew some new spring-ish reversible cloth napkins for our table. They just brighten up my day! Along with the beautiful tulips my husband brought home for me just because...

Brioches aux Gouttes de Chocolat

I have a slight obsession with french pastries. They are just SOO good. There really aren't any bakeries in the area that can do them justice, so I must resort to baking them myself. Let me tell you though that this is no easy process. These pastries in particular take at least 2 days to make... but they are so worth the time, effort and wait. I found this book at the library and have been inspired to bake. Here's a picture to make you hungry. If you live close enough, come on over and I'll share! Before being baked: After, ready to eat:

Sweater Reinvention

A while back I purchased some wool sweaters from Value Village to felt and craft with. They have been sitting in my closet for a while as I was pondering what I should use them for. Today it dawned on me to recover a pillow for my couch since the colors matched perfectly! This project was soo easy that it literally took me under 30 minutes to cut, sew and assemble. And Voila! A new cushion for the couch. I love it!

Bibs and burpclothes

In all my knitting frenzy, I feel like I've forgotten my sewing machine. I needed my fix, so I decided on some simple projects for the new baby, using some of the fabric I already had. Because we are trying to minimize over here, not add to the stash. *Sigh* Anyway - I found some simple patterns for both burpcloths and bibs and got to work. Both of them are reversible. Since we aren't sure weather it's a boy or a girl I went ahead and made some of each thinking that whatever we don't use, I'll give away since there seems to be lots of pregnant mamas out there. Here they are:
